Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

Welcome to Campground Alerts. By using this service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

The service

Campground Alerts monitors campsite availability on supported reservation systems (currently Recreation.gov and ReserveAmerica) and sends you email alerts when availability appears for sites you've set alerts on. We don't make reservations on your behalf — when an alert fires, you go book directly through the relevant reservation system.

Free tier and Pro subscription

  • Free — one active alert at a time, monitored for 3 days from creation. After 3 days the alert is deactivated automatically.
  • Pro— unlimited active alerts, monitored continuously until you cancel or the alert's end date passes. Billed at $4.99 per month or $49 per year via Stripe.

Subscription billing

  • Pro subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) until you cancel.
  • You can cancel anytime from the Preferences page. Cancellation stops auto-renewal at the end of your current period; you keep Pro access until the period ends.
  • No refunds for partial periods. If you cancel mid-period, you'll continue to have Pro access for the days you've already paid for, but we don't refund the unused portion.
  • If a charge fails (expired card, etc.), Stripe will retry. If retries keep failing, your subscription transitions to past_due and may be cancelled by Stripe; we'll downgrade you to free at that point.
  • Prices may change. We'll email subscribers at least 30 days before a price change takes effect; if you don't want the new price, cancel before it kicks in.

What the service can and can't do

  • Coverage is limited to supported reservation systems. See /coveragefor what we currently monitor. We're happy to add new ReserveAmerica or Recreation.gov campgrounds on request — request coverage via that page.
  • We can't guarantee we'll catch every opening. Our polling interval is bounded by what each reservation system tolerates; popular spots can come and go between checks. Treat our alerts as a head start, not a guarantee.
  • We don't book sites for you.Reservations happen on the reservation system's own site and require their account.
  • If a customer subscribes specifically to monitor a campground we can't support, we'll work with you on a case-by-case basis (typically a credit toward a future month) — email support@campgroundalerts.com.

Acceptable use

  • The service is for personal, non-commercial use.
  • Don't scrape or systematically download data from this site. The campground catalog and alert data are for our customers' own use.
  • Don't use the service to monitor on behalf of a commercial reservation reseller, or to corner inventory. We will cancel accounts that do.
  • One person, one account. Don't share login credentials.

Fair use

Our pricing is intentionally set well below the cost of running the service, with the assumption that almost all customers use the service for their own personal trips. To keep it that way:

  • Pro accounts are limited to 25 active alertsat a time. If you need more, contact us — we're happy to discuss it on a case-by-case basis.
  • We may rate-limit, throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that we judge — at our sole discretion — to be abusing the service, consuming a disproportionate share of upstream reservation-system requests, or otherwise putting the service at risk for our other customers. Examples include automated mass account creation, scripted alert churn, and using the service to power another commercial offering.
  • We may change usage limits over time as we learn more about how the service is used. We'll give existing Pro subscribers reasonable notice before tightening limits in a way that affects them.

Account termination

  • You may cancel your subscription and/or delete your account at any time from the Preferences page.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, attempt to abuse the service, or chargeback subscription payments. We'll email you if we do.

Service availability

We aim for high availability but make no guarantees about uptime, response time, or that emails will be delivered without delay. Email deliverability in particular depends on factors outside our control (your provider's spam filters, etc.). The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $20, whichever is greater for free users). We're not liable for missed reservations, consequential damages, lost camping trips, or anything else outside our direct control.

Privacy

See our Privacy Policy for what we collect, how we use it, and how to delete your data.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be emailed to active subscribers at least 30 days in advance. Your continued use of the service after a change takes effect counts as acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Wake County, NC.
